NEWS
June was a great beginning for us. We displayed and demonstrated IR Tank battling at the Detroit Arsenal Museum Show in Romeo Michigan. This show was on the anniversary of D-day, June 6, 2009, 65 years since that historic battle! The event had many people asking questions about our hobby/sport, we passed out flyers and spoke with many people. This organization does several events in the course of the years and we are going to try to display at more of them. We had about 20 tanks on display, mainly HL, but a few Tamiya’s as well. We’ll look forward to attending this show again next year.
Meeting:
We held are “first” official meeting on June 11, 2009 at the home of one of our members. We had 5 members in attendance. We covered a range of topics for the club. The results/recap of this meeting can be viewed on the Club Forum. We intend to meet once per month for the operations meeting, then at lease once per month to run the tanks in some type of event. We will post on the web site and forum dates and times. Our general meetings are open to guests as well, just contact us to let us know you want to attend, we’ll provide the location and directions.
Membership:
We continue to look for interested people to enlist them in the club. We are getting many people joining the forum and hope to see more people come out and join the club as we make our presence known by doing shows and displays. Remember: ownership of a tank is not required and membership is FREE, just sign up on the website/forum! We are developing this organization/group “To Promote all facets of R/C Armor Modeling”. Being an R/C modeler is not required either, all facets of the armor modeling community are welcome to join. Give us a try, together we can do great things, and grow the hobby.
Website & Forum:
All new recruits need to go to Roll Call and post something about you.
The DTC Website/forum sites continue to grow and expand. We need your help in growing it even more. Post your questions/concerns/builds/ etc. and tell us what you’d like to see on the forum and website. Our hope is that the DTC Website/forum will become the website and forum for R/C Armor Modeling information exchange and growth. We’ve had several comments about the site and are looking to hearing from each of you with your comments to improve the site. We are off to a great start, we need your input to keep the ball rolling and growing the R/C Armor Hobby. Please review the web site; send us your comments, articles, and ideas. We need everyone to contribute to the forum. Please posts articles or submit them to me and I’ll add them to the forum.

Impact has new electronic devices that are going to available yet this year. These devices will be additional units to expand their line of IR components to aid in IR battling. As more details are released we will post the information on the website.

Up Coming Events:
June 6, 2009 - Event/Display with Detroit Arsenal Museum in Romeo, MI.
R/C Tankers and Interested Modelers, I'm waiting for the Event coordinator to contact me to complete the registration for our Club's display at the Detroit Arsenal Museum on June 6, 2009. This is a WWII Museum group that I have contacted and they have agreed to allow us to be a part of their Museum Day in Romeo, Michigan. This is the first of many opportunities for this type of display and press. We will also be a part of their program listing, so the public will also know about us. We will be set up either in a tent or a building at this location for this event. It is possible that we will be adjacent to "Great Lakes Train and Hobby"; they are the lowest priced supplier of Tamiya R/C Tanks Kits in our area. It would be good to support them and tell them you're with the club when you make a purchase.
What we would like to do is have as many tanks on display as possible, these could be "Full Option" or the older series, all in 1/16-1/15 scale. I'd like to see if we could have representative models of all of the offerings by Tamiya, Ban Dai, Trumpeter, etc. We will be able to also have a video playing; we're supposed to be in a location that would allow us to run the videos continuously as I've done before at other shows. What I can’t answer as of yet is "will we be able to battle" the initial thought was yes, but this will be based on who's comes to this event and what tanks are available in "full option" dress.
Please contact myself, or Mike to confirm you'll attend. The cost of the entry is only $6.00/person. We are going to have to pay this as this is standard for this organization. We'll see if there is a reduced rate available at all, but I can not confirm that as yet. We should try to confirm for 6-8 people with their tanks, to be there if possible. This is a great opportunity to meet and greet potential new members to our club and hobby. We will have club flyers to pass out as well.
Meeting:
We would like to schedule a “meeting” with those “tankers and interested parties” to discuss the Detroit Tank Command. Mainly, we would like to get together just to meet other interested people, talk about the development of the club, the direction we’ve set to date, and what/when/where we can get together to battle with our tanks. We are proposing a date of June 20 or 27 somewhere here in Livonia/Brighton/Canton, Michigan area. Please plan to attend; we will confirm date, time, and location. Bring your tank(s) to talk about.
Membership:
We would like to see more people enlisted in the club. Remember: ownership of a tank is not required and membership is FREE, just sign up on the forum! We are developing this organization/group “To Promote all facets of R/C Armor Modeling”. Being an R/C modeler is not required either, all facets of the armor modeling community are welcome to join.
